Calculate the Ideal Thermal Output (in BTUs) for Your Room Size and Requirements
Selecting the right ductless mini split heat pump for your home is essential for optimal efficiency and performance. A small A/C struggles to cool the space and removes excessive humidity, raising energy costs and reducing comfort. It works harder to reach the right temperature, consuming more energy in the process. On the other hand, an oversized A/C cools quickly but wastes energy and only removes partial humidity, leaving the space feeling damp. A properly sized unit provides optimal cooling and humidity control for maximum comfort.

Your BTU Needs in a Few Easy Steps
1. First, locate your region on the US map provided.
2. Identify the size of the space to be cooled in square feet.
3. Measure the room height (standard is 8 feet).
4. Choose the option that reflects your insulation level according to U.S. standards.
5. Select the sun exposure level of your space (shaded, average, or strong), which significantly affects the final calculation.
6. Add up how many windows are in the area, as glass insulates less effectively than walls.
7. Evaluate the air-tightness of your doors and windows for temperature and humidity, and check what type of windows are installed.
8. If you're cooling a glass sunroom, let us know, as it requires special consideration due to its poor insulation.
9. Account for the number of people typically in the room, as this will impact the cooling load.
10. Determine what type of lighting is used in the room, particularly if incandescent lights are installed.
11. Include any kitchen appliances that produce heat, such as the stove or refrigerator.
12. Input any additional equipment that produces heat, along with its wattage.
13. Once all information is entered, click the "FILTER RESULTS" button to get your final recommendation.
